Newcastle City Council and LNER operate publicly accessibly secure cycle storage in the city centre.
Newcastle Council have three secure bike stores, in Eldon Garden, Grainger Town, and Dean Street car parks.
To access the cages provided by Newcastle council you will need to pay a one off £15 payment to request a fob. This can be done here – https://newcastle-central.oncreate.app/w/webpage/auth-service?service=cycle_storage_payment
Make sure to select if you want only bicycle storage or both bicycle and motorcycle storage. These are separate cages with different types of stands.
Once you have submitted the form the council will reach out to arrange collection via email or phone.
To collect the fob you will need to go to Eldon square multi story. There is a small buzzer to contact the staff and they will give you the fob upon checking your ID.
You should now be able to access Newcastle councils secure cycle stores in Eldon Garden and Dean Street. You need your fob to enter and leave so make sure you keep it out once you’re done securing your bike.
LNER offer fobs for £10 per year for the Secure Storage area at the East end of the Central Station. You will need to go to the passenger information desk under the departure boards at Central Station.
There you can request a fob, they will check your id, take payment for the £10, and issue you a small fob for access.
There is a key pad on the gate to the secure storage but just tap your fob to the highest button and it will activate. The gate can be awkward to open so best put your bike on its kickstand if you have one.
