We are focused on four key priorities that underpin our vision of “A city with space for cycling, so that everyone – people of all ages and abilities – are able to choose to cycle.”
We want to see priority given to connect chunks of existing infrastructure and a safe cycle route to Central Station approved.
We want to ensure that new developments are connected to the current network.
We want to see the key priorities retained to remove through traffic from residential areas and direct motor vehicles to the main road network, and a plan to implement this.
We want to see every school in Newcastle assessed for a School Street, specific policy outlining minimum standards for all schools and a plan to implement them across the city.
We want to see a bid for funding to trial an on street cycle hangar scheme in Newcastle.
In the run up to the ‘all out’ local government election in Newcastle in 2026, we are developing a set of policy positions that we will encourage candidates to consider and endorse.
