Great to see that National Guidance on School Streets has been published by Active Travel England, supported by the Department for Education and the Department of Health and Social Care.

We hope that this will support Newcastle City Council in relaunching the School Streets Scheme in Newcastle and enable it to reach its full potential.

In particular we would love to see the selection criteria for school streets publicly available and a process developed that allows schools to perform an initial assessment themselves.
