This short video from Copenhagen (7 mins) passionately sums up our vision for Newcastle's city centre: nothing more, nothing less.

And there is loads that can also be done in our neighbourhoods and communities as outlined perfectly by this video about a street in London (4 mins).

To achieve this transformation, we all need to work together. The Newcastle Cycling Campaign is bringing together everyone with an interest in cycling in and around Newcastle, organisations, groups and individuals. The campaign is particularly interested in increasing 'everyday cycling': we believe that safer and more enjoyable cycling condition would get more people cycling. Who could argue with that logic!
Cycling is steadily increasing in Newcastle, and our city has great potential to become a premier Cycle City. If we do not want to be left behind other cities, the step change must happen now. Business as usual is not an option. Together, we can represent cyclists, channel and articulate our views and concerns and push for action, results and successes.
We can make Everyday Cycling a reality.
Let's get a positive feedback loop going! Improve cycle conditions, more people use bikes, more provision for cycling, and a cycling culture emerges.
We are describing this approach further in our first Annual Report 2010/11.
