01.06.2011 PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WIN A BRAND NEW BIKE
Online-bikes.co.uk and Newcastle Cycling Campaign have teamed up to launch a competition open to all. No surprise, it will get people talking about cycling!!
With Bike Week 2011 fast approaching and summer at our doorstep, the two organisations thought it would be an ideal time for the competition. To win the amazing first price, a folding bike from online-bikes.co.uk, all you need to do is answer this question:
What would make the Metro cyclist-friendly and why does it matter to you?
Tell us using your own words, 50 max –couldn’t be easier! You can enter by completing the entry form at www.online-bikes.co.uk/competition
Newcastle Cycling Campaign which was established last October aims to create a cycling culture in and around the city. Katja Leyendecker, the chair explains “ we know that a lot of people want better cycling infrastructure so a lot of our work is about lobbying for improvements and supporting the shift towards sustainable active travel. We have approached NEXUS and DB regio to offer our help in designing cyclist friendly stations and also piloting bikes on the metro. Our members have told us that allowing normal bikes on the metro would encourage them to cycle more often. “ For more information about Newcastle Cycling Campaign and how to get involved, go to www.newcycling.org.uk.
www.online-bikes.co.uk is a local business which encourages more people to use their bicycles regularly as a mode of transport. The founders’ idea was to show that cycling does not need to be an expensive pastime by offering a range of quality bikes and cycling accessories at discount prices. Online-bikes.co.uk does not maintain retail premises and this has allowed them to cut out the single biggest fixed cost for bike shops – their rent and rates – so they are able to offer a range of leading brands (and their own affordable brand) of cycling accessories, together with a growing range of bicycles, folding bicycles and electric bikes at extremely low prices.
To enter the competition, go to www.online-bikes.co.uk/competition answer the question and complete the short form by the 26 June 2011. Make sure you leave a contact email address and telephone number so that we can notify you if you are the winner!
The lucky winner will be able to travel on the metro with her/his prize until, hopefully, one day, we can all get our full-size bike on the metro. Good luck everybody!!
