UPDATE – 23 OCTOBER 2015: GYT 2015 IS NOW CLOSED – NEWCYCLING WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE MEMBERS WHO DONATED. WE RAISED AN AMAZING £620 IN JUST 11 DAYS. THANK YOU ALL
It’s Grow Your Tenner time again! The scheme opens at 10am on Tuesday 13 October and runs until Wednesday 18 November 2015, or until the funding pot runs out – whichever comes first. Last year we raised an impressive £680 and this year, with your help, we are hoping to raise even more!
To give simply go to https://localgiving.com/charity/newcycling
How does it work?
GYT will match up to £10 for one-time donations and up to £10 per month for direct debit donations for 3 months (£30 max). With Gift Aid, a one-time donation of £10 made through Localgiving.com during GYT will generate £21.67.
Why do we need your financial support?
Our campaign is entirely run by enthusiastic volunteers and your generosity matters too. We spend about £1,000 a year, just on essential running costs. We don’t charge for membership, so our funding model is reliant on your donations and small external grants to cover annual running costs.
How are we doing so far?
John Watson, our new Treasurer, gives us a brief half-year financial update:
“Over the last 6 months, we have spent just over £800 – split between our last AGM costs, website, CTC subscription, materials and S4C ride publicity materials (£300 ring-fenced budget) and travel expenses. We have already raised £109 through online donations (thank you!) – the campaign bank account balance is still very healthy (also thanks to last year’s £1,000 grant from the Coop Customer Donation Fund) and we would like to keep it like that.”
How will we spend your donation?
We can make your donation go a long way and will spend it wisely. Your funding will help pay for:
- Travel to conferences
- Marketing materials and Space for Cycling ride costs
- Expert third-party opinions to supplement and further document our own plans and proposals
Last year your funding enabled us to support the Space for Cycling Campaign rides and contributed to our running costs, e.g. website, AGM and materials.
This year, we would like to support our infrastructure team – some big plans are being prepared for the city and we are getting prepared to respond to them. We would like to build the expertise within NewCycling by purchasing materials and resources, training our volunteers and hiring expert third-party advice.
