The 2011 UK Census contains valuable information for researchers, practitioners and decision makers. In this presentation we will be presenting evidence of gender imbalance in cycle commuting patterns for a range of local authorities in England. In addition, we will be exploring distances travelled by mode for Tyne and Wear. This analysis will consider different transport transitions and futures for Newcastle. The discussion will include mode share options, target demographics (particularly gender) and their spatial design preferences.
