Cycling Infrastructure Event
3rd February 2015 @ 18:00 - 21:00
FreeThis event is co-organised by Sustrans and NewCycling. We are delighted to welcome three urban transport experts talking about urban design for streets and cities with, of course, a fair share of cycling infrastructure in the mix.
Han is currently the chair of Fietsersbond (Dutch Cyclists’ Union) Haarlem, and is a former chair of the stop der kindermord campaign.
John is a traffic engineer, transport planner and urban designer with 29 years’ professional experience that spans from strategic transport planning to concept design. Well known as a champion of better town and city streets, he was Director being responsible for Urban Initiatives’ Movement + Streets portfolio before founding Urban Movement.
Phil specialises in achieving synergy between highway and urban design, with the aim of creating places and spaces that meet aesthetic, social and functional aims. He advises a large number of private and public sector clients on transportation and infrastructure matters. Phil is an acknowledged expert on Home Zones, and was part of the team that produced Manual for Streets and Manual for Streets 2.
Following speakers’ presentations, we will hold a panel discussion on how to overcome the barriers to creating space for cycling.
Come and join us at The Cycle Hub from 6:00pm – the event is free and we would appreciate if you could email us at newcastle.cycling.campaign@gmail.com to book a place.
