Velocity 2015 – Claire’s reflections

It was with huge excitement that I set off on a long train journey on 2 June from Newcastle to Nantes for the largest international cycling advocacy event of the year, Velocity2015. I cannot thank Philippe Crist enough for the free 3-day pass he kindly offered me. Some of you may remember his superb presentation on the economic benefits of Cycling at the Love Cycling Go Dutch conference in Newcastle nearly two years ago. Velocity2015 was a great event and a fantastic platform to meet other campaigners and engage in wide-ranging discussions. I felt immensely energised at the end of the week and also amazingly[…]

NewCycling is proud to have many partners: corporate sponsors, national organisations, and local groups. The list is too long to name them all here but you can have a look here on our website. Some of them have been supporting us since the Campaign was established in 2010 and others have linked up more recently. In the mix there are cycling related groups as well as campaigning organisations. Together we are asking for changes for a better future and lobbying for a transport transition, a more sustainable and people-friendly city and region.  Under partner’s news, you’ll get to find out more about them and what[…]

Embarking on the Transport Transition Journey – AGM 2015 (Part 1)

It was truly uplifting to see an even bigger crowd than last year at the Hub for our AGM 2015. Forty members and a handful of observers: the Cycle Hub was certainly packed that night! Introduction and formal business Katja Leyendecker, the co-founder and Chair of Newcycling since 2010, kicked off the meeting by saying that our campaign thanks to all volunteers had indeed shifted up a gear last year, consolidating our foundations while reaching out more to involve our membership in activities. Claire Prospert, also co-founder and Secretary, presented the annual reports and highlighted the key achievements of the year:[…]
