Recyke Y Bike is looking for volunteers and bicycles

PARTNERS NEWS LOGONewCycling is proud to have many partners: corporate sponsors, national organisations, and local groups. The list is too long to name them all here but you can have a look here on our website.

Some of them have been supporting us since the Campaign was established in 2010 and others have linked up more recently. In the mix there are cycling related groups as well as campaigning organisations. Together we are asking for changes for a better future and lobbying for a transport transition, a more sustainable and people-friendly city and region.

Under partner’s news, you’ll get to find out more about them and what they are up to. Starting with the one and only Recyke Y Bike:

Recyke Y Bike is a local charity and social enterprise, which has grown from strength to strength since its creation eight years ago. Here are some great news and opportunities to help them.

Recyke is expanding its operations at The Journey in Newcastle City Centre, in Byker and Durham. The cycling charity has half day and one day a week opportunities for volunteers who can spare a little time on a regular basis. You don’t even need to get your hands dirty! They are looking for retail, admin and marketing volunteers at all 3 locations. You can help spread the cycling message to the public at The Journey (with partners from Sustrans), sell their refurbished bikes to the public in Newcastle and Durham or help organise their ‘Bikes to Africa’ shipments.

Recyke is also in need of quality bikes and parts. In particular at the moment they have a shortage of men’s road bikes where demand has outstripped supply. If you have an unused bike of any description in the garage, or maybe you know someone who has, please bring it to either the Newcastle or Durham premises.  One of Recyke previous sources of bikes to recycle in Newcastle was the Northumbria Police, but they are now selling their stocks of stolen bikes through auction and keeping the proceeds.  More reason for Recyke to seek donations from you! Please help if you can.

Just check their website.
