And we are planning another 4C = City Chief Cycle Challenge! Taking our politicians 'roon the toon - cycling, chatting, exchanging views. John Dobson Street should feature quite heavily this time, as there are immediate plans to make it cycle-friendly (as an alternative to Northumberland Street). We are eager to see the changes since last year.
Date TBC - possibly deferred to later in the year again.
Our contribution (albeit postponed) to 'BikeWeek' and 'Summer of Cycling': let's get cycling, and talking! http://www.bikeweek.org.uk/CCCC_streettalk - It was great to hear earlier on in the year, that Cllr Nick Forbes, leader of Newcastle City Council, would find another 4C useful. We send thanks to Cllr Nick Forbes for finalising a date with us!
The final date has been CONFIRMED as 18 September, for 17:00 meet Civic Centre as usual.
It's exciting, Newcastle is signed up to develop Strategic Cycle Routes. Check out whether your ward gets connected!
Wondering what you as Councillor can do for cycling and cyclists? Some call the cycling community "complex". We think it's simple! Get in touch to find out. Here's a few ideas! Please get in touch to discuss your projects, ideas or simply to find out what we think.
The Newcastle Cycling Campaign witnessed some political panache during BikeWeek when leading city chiefs took up the challenge to cycle the city.
Cllr Nick Forbes (leader of the Newcastle City Council), Cllr Henri Murison (Cabinet for Quality of Life) and Cllr Nigel Todd (Cabinet Deputy for Environment and Transport) – amongst many others – saddled up to show their support for city cycling. And they really did - with enormous elegance and ease.
We decided to try something different for national BikeWeek and have organised an opportunity for our decision makers to saddle up and show their support for city cycling! The actual challenge for our city chiefs is in participating on the day.
Please come along, bring your family, your camera… and chat to your councillors!
