Position statement – helmets and helmet compulsion

We are pro choice: helmets are a personal decision; everyone of us should be allowed to make it freely and with no pressure. It’s okay to wear one, it’s equally okay not to. No country with high bicycle use has a high percentage of helmet wearing. The campaign will continue to lobby decision makers to adopt a pro-choice attitude. We will not promote or publicise events that have compulsory helmet use. We will also keep an eye on the developing research http://cyclehelmets.org/

(Policy updated on 10 July 2016)
